Business Tax Information
New or relocated businesses in the City of Butler can apply for a temporary exemption from Business Privilege or Mercantile Tax per Ordinance No. 1664 (adopted 12/20/2012).

Rental Property/Landlords
All Butler City landlords must submit a rental occupancy form by January 31st of each year as well as within 30 days of a tenant moving into or out of the property.

If you are a new landlord or have bought or sold a rental property, please send an email to lor@cityofbutler.org including your name and address; the rental property address; the tenants names and apartment/unit number if necessary.
The owners, lessors and rental agents of all real estate, residences, apartments, stores and other structures in the City which are leased, offered for lease or occupied by persons, partnerships, corporations or others than the owner thereof shall, within 30 days after the effective date of this section, supply to the City Treasurer lists of names and addresses of all current lessees and occupants of real estate, residences, apartments, stores and other structures of which they are the owners, lessors or rental agents and shall thereafter supply to the City Treasurer, in writing, on an annual basis by January 31 and within 30 days of any changes, the names and addresses of all lessees or occupants of such premises.
The City Treasurer shall supply the names and addresses of all lessees and occupants of real estate obtained hereunder or by any other means to all other officials and departments of the City requesting same for proper performance of their duties.
Any person, firm or corporation who violates any provision of this chapter shall after conviction in a summary proceeding be subject to a fine of not more than $300, plus costs of prosecution and, in default of payment of said fine and costs, imprisonment for not more than 90 days.
